Online Internet-based surveys

The Internet offers the possibility of data collection in a easy and effective manner using forms designed to gather data from respondents.  We can easily create and conduct surveys of many different types in this format.

Internet surveys have many advantages over traditional paper-and-pencil surveys:

bullet

ease of distribution and low cost (no copying, mailing charges)

bullet

direct data entry reduces possibility of transcription errors entering data for analysis

bullet

it doesn't matter where respondents are -- as long as they have Internet access

bullet

speed of transmission and turnaround -- data entry is instantaneous, analysis can be almost immediate

There are some problems with such surveys, of course:

bullet

respondents need to be familiar with entering data on Internet-based forms

bullet

data can get lost in transmission

bullet

respondents can respond more than once -- security can be implemented, but at a cost

Only the first problem is really critical.  And in today's Internet-based companies, virtually everyone is online on the Internet or Intranet anyway.

We have created and implemented online surveys for several companies and universities, for both management and research purposes.

Here is an example of an online survey that respondents can complete over the Internet.

This is an example of an actual online survey.  It is modified from a survey that JD created and managed for a major company to survey employees of one of its overseas divisions.  The full survey (about 25 questions) was designed and written, implemented, the results tabulated, and used by he company for feedback within one month, to the entire satisfaction of the company and the participants.

This example is just for illustration.  In practice, such surveys be laid out in many different ways to suit the needs of the client.
